Digital Mobile Radio (DMR)


Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is an international radio standard developed by European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and first ratified in the year 2005. Hytera DMR trunking system is an IP-based Digital Trunked System Infrastructure specifically designed to provide mission critical voice, dispatching and management capacity across various geographical areas. With all IP-architecture and centralized networking, the solution utilizes modular design of system equipments to deliver high spectrum efficiency, quick access, wide coverage, flexible networking, affordable infrastructure and maintenance costs, high security and strong scalability. It supports networks of different coverage areas including regional networks such as single-site ntwork or multiple-site nationwide networks.


The DMR trunking system consists of the base station system, service terminal, bearer network and mobile switching office (MSO). As the core of DMR system, MSO comprises a wide array of subsystem to rich the application functions such as Network Management System (NMS), Dispatching System, and Digital Voicing Recording Systems (DVRS).  Hytera key system features are as follows:

The DMR Network is scalable from a single site with one base station to a wide area network with multiple MSOs. DMR Network has these system capacity:

      • One MSO will support up to 50 base stations, 200 carriers
      • A single base station will support up to 16 carriers
      • One MSO will support up to 5000 group call
      • One MSO will support 32 dispatcher stations, 64 network management clients
